INVISIBLEMAN.DUSTJACKET. Powerful exploration of racial identity and social invisibility in America, the novel follows an unnamed Black narrator who feels invisible in a society that refuses to acknowledge his humanity. As he journeys from the South to Harlem, he grapples with oppression, betrayal, and his own identity, ultimately realizing that true visibility comes from within.
With this, I went on to recreate the cover of the novel wanting to focus on the man himself. I adopted aspects from the Harlem Renaissance to enhance the connection from the cover to the actual story with use of bold color and powerful-painterly imagery– for example, the suitcase with a target located on it symbolizing the corruption that many black men faced even with trying to contribute to society with their work. The front cover is there to really capture the emotion that is felt through the novel. I focused on high contrasted elements to bring another element of engagement before you even read the first line of the novel.
THIS PROJECT WON A SILVER ADDY FOR THE YEAR OF 2023.
